RECIPE FOR REBUILDING
A collaboration of Miami and New York's hottest chefs and Delta Region Trickle Up Entrepreneurs presenting delicious Creole/Cajun Cuisine benefiting the lower Mississippi Delta.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina we all watched the devastation unfold in the Gulf region. The impact of Katrina has been felt by millions well beyond the Gulf region. The responsibility of helping affected individuals rebuild their lives, communities and businesses falls to all of us.
In response, Trickle Up, a nonprofit organization working in the Delta, together with
Gourmet magazine has brought together Trickle Up entrepreneurs with
hot Miami and New York chefs to create the 'Recipe for Rebuilding.'

Trickle Up helps very low-income people break out of poverty by starting their own business. Over the last 26 years, the organization has supported over 135,000 businesses in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the U.S. In the wake of hurricane Katrina, Mississippi Delta entrepreneurs have been reaching out for help to restart their lives. Trickle Up's model of providing first step capital to the poor is needed now more than ever in the Delta. With training and a small business grant, Delta entrepreneurs will rebuild their lives by starting businesses, many in the food industry, such as "Montgomery's Mississippi Barbeque" and "New Orleans Snow Cone Company" which will be featured at the event.
